CHAMPIONS REUNION IX HAPPENING DURING OKTOBERFEST RACING WEEKEND

ONALASKA, WI – One of the bigger happenings during the Annual Oktoberfest Racing weekend will again take place at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway, West Salem, WI., as Champions Reunion IX will be held Sunday October 8th, 2017, at the speedway.

The event is held in honor of all past champions at any track in any division or series as well as previous Oktoberfest Feature event winners. Racing promoters, past and present are also invited.

The theme for the Reunion this year will be “60 Years of Racing at the Fairgrounds” as the event commemorates the long run of racing held here starting back in 1957 when the original dirt track was constructed on the grounds. Drivers who actually raced during that time will be on hand along with many past Champions that raced through the years at both the La Crosse Fairgrounds as well as throughout the State and Midwest. Last years event featured over 100 championships among the 50+ drivers on hand. A similar turnout is expected this year.

A number of old time race cars will also be on display including the 1937 Chevy Coupe that is near identical to the one driven back in the day by Ken Christenson, Sr. Ken sadly has passed, but a number of family members of the Christenson racing family who are still involved in the sport today, will be on hand to recognize Ken Sr. Numerous displays featuring photos and newspaper clippings dating all the way back to 1957 along with video will be shown and enjoyed by fans and drivers alike during the day. The event will also offer opportunity for fans to get a photo taken with their favorite driver as well as autographs.

Champions Reunion IX will be held from 11am-2pm in the Hospitality Chalet between turns one and two in the main grandstands of the speedway. Fans will be admitted free to the event as long as they hold a Sunday October 8th ticket to the racing action. Any past Champions wishing to attend are eligible as long as they have not raced in the last three years. Those interested need to state as such on the Champions Reunion IX Facebook page, via e-mail at dale@starmakermultimedia.com or by calling Starmaker Multimedia, Dale P. Danielski at 608-783-5827. A list of those champions indicating they will attend will be at the main grandstand ticket gate where an arm band will be issued allowing entry.

We thank everyone in advance for attending and hope you enjoy your day as part of the 48th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend.
