Wednesday, September 20, 2006 (West Salem, WI) – Wausau native, Jeremy Lepak, can’t wait for the 37th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend. He hopes to improve on his 2005 Wisconsin Late Models finish.
Last year, Lepak started on the outside of the front row for the ARTGO Reunion 100 and finished third behind winner Steve Holzhausen. “That was unbelievable, we will just put it at that,” Lepak remembered. “You look at the guys that run that. Just racing with Holzhausen last year and then finishing third to him. To me that was just great.”
For Lepak, Oktoberfest has always had a special meaning to him. “I have grown up going there, maybe the last 15-20 years I have been going there to watch and to race,” Lepak recently stated. “It’s real cool to drive for All-Star Racing at that event.”
He ran in the top-three all day long in the event and was just excited to be in the running for the win. “We had a really fast car there last year,” Lepak recalled. “If we could have made a couple of adjustments, we would have had a winning car.”
So far this year, Lepak has competed in 29 super late model events. He has 3 wins, 1 fast time, 12 top-five and 20 top-ten finishes.
Lepak stated that he does plan on competing in the Wisconsin Late Model division at Oktoberfest, but left the door open for racing in other divisions during the four-day weekend.
When asked about Oktoberfest, Lepak laughs and says, “Its wild, it’s pretty exciting. I have seen guys bring new race cars that they hadn’t run all year, but they will bring it to Oktoberfest to run.”
“Racing’s Family Reunion” will take place on October 5-8th at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, WI. For more information, please visit the track’s website at www.lacrossespeedway.com.
