(West Salem, WI – October 9, 2015) Ty Majeski is on a roll at the 46th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend at La Crosse Fairground Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin. After winning the La Crosse Late Model feature on Thursday night, the 21-year-old from Seymour, Wisconsin became the eighth different winner of the “Dick Trickle 99” for the Super Late Models.
Randy Humfeld and Mike Corvo III also picked up feature wins on Friday night.
Fans saw the field of 24 cars take the green flag as fast qualifier Ty Majeski led the field. Majeski dominated the first segment with only one caution that came out on lap 11 when 2013 winner Erik Darnell made contact with the wall coming out of turn four. Dalton Zehr would finish second while Nick Murgic came from his ninth starting spot to finish third. Jacob Goede was fourth and Skylar Holzhausen rounded out the top five.
Susan Majeski, Ty’s mother, drew a five for a 15-car invert for segment two.
Majeski wasn’t bothered that he had to start 15th in the second segment, but he wanted to show that he had the strongest car on Friday night. By lap 12, he was up to fifth and was in a podium position by lap 14. He closed in on the top two of Andrew Morrissey and Nick Barstad with 10 laps to go. On lap 25, he drove past Barstad for second and took the lead on Lap 29 and would go on to win segment two.
Majeski’s mother drew again for a 12-car invert for the final segment. Going into the final segment, Majeski had two points with Dalton Zehr with seven points and Nick Murgic with nine points.
Fans were eager for the final segment to see if Majeski would pull off the trifecta. He started 12th but would come up a few spots short as Colin Reffner took the lead from Austin Nason on lap four and go on to the win. Dalton Zehr was second, as he held off Majeski for the spot. Jacob Goede was fourth and Nick Barstad finished fifth.
Overall, it was Majeski with the win with five points and Dalton Zehr in second with nine points. Casey Johnson was third with 17 points.
Barstad and Griffin McGrath advanced from the first qualifier race. Natalie Decker and Adam Royle advanced from the second race, while Jason Weinkauf and Chad Whalen advanced from the third heat.
Matt Goede battled with Caleb Adrian at the halfway point of the 30-lap Stubby semi-feature. Goede would get the lead and go on to the win. Anthony Danta was third with Joel Theisen in fourth and Ryan De Stefano rounding out the top five.
Brent Kirchner held off Alex Stumpf and Mark Lamereaux to win the C-Main feature. A total of 59 cars qualified for the ninth running of the “Dick Trickle 99.”
Randy Humfeld passed Mike Hanson on lap eight and would go on to hold off a late challenge from Rick Schermerhorn to win the Great Northern Sportsmen Series 25-lap feature. Dan Gilster was third with Dave Trute finishing fourth. Scott Luck rounded out the top five.
Dan Gilster won the odd heat, and Tony Leis won the even heat. Adam Oxborough and Mike Hanson advanced from the first GNSS qualifier race. Dusty Mann and Brian Hesselberg advanced from the second qualifier race.
Trute, whose car failed qualifying tech, won the first last chance race with Brad Warthan in second and Jamie Dummer joining him in the feature. Michael Gilomen won the second last chance race. Terry Holn edged Justin Mullikin for second, but both also made the feature. Trute ended his wild day by becoming the 2015 Great Northern Sportsmen Series champion.
Corvo held off the pressure from Chester Ace to win the 15-lap Fest Truck feature. The two drivers kept the fans on the edge of their seats as Ace kept searching for a way to get around Corvo. Ace made one last attempt in turns three and four, but Corvo had the momentum to take him to the checkered flag. Derek Kraus was third with Danielle Behn in fourth. Chad Devine rounded out the top five.
Kraus won the Truck heat race.
Day three of the 46th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend will feature preliminary races for the ARCA Midwest Tour’s 200-lap feature on Sunday, Big 8 Series, Mid-American Stock Car Series and Midwest Dash Cars. Qualifying gets underway at 2:05pm with racing underway at 5pm.
