Daytona Beach, FL- Oktoberfest Race Weekend officials will have the latest in track drying technology available for this weekend’s 49th annual event at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. In a combined effort with NASCAR, the cutting edge Air Titan 2.0 will be heading north to assist with track drying operations should they be needed during the four day racing event.
“Last year, Kevin Nevalainen (NASCAR Senior Director of Weekly Racing Operations) had mentioned that NASCAR may be able to help arrange for an Air Titan to be at Fest in the coming years. We figured this year would be as good as any.” Stated Gregg McKarns, whom co-promotes the event with Chuck Deery. “We have had jet driers in the past, but those were tough to utilize to their full abilities on a short track. The Air Titan system appears to be the best option available.”
The Air Titan 2.0 more than triples the blade capacity of the original Air Titan version and delivers 2.6 times more air volume at a speed of 568 mph, while raising the air temperature by 70 degrees over ambient. With the combination of water removal and accelerated evaporation, the ultimate goal is to reduce track-drying time by 80 percent.
On track activities will begin on Wednesday October 3 with an open practice session from 3pm until 7:30pm. Racing action begins on Thursday night at 6pm with just four points separating Steve Carlson and Nick Panitzke atop the Tobacco Outlet plus Grocery NASCAR Late Models.
