West Salem, WI- Kwik Trip presents the third night of racing action during the 51st annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend, Saturday night October 10, 2020. Champions and Challengers from weekly tracks across the region are anticipating their chance at Oktoberfest Glory during the Big 8 Late Model Series headlining feature. Feature events for the Mid-American Stock Car Series, Midwest Truck Series and Midwest Dash Series will compliment the night of racing fun which also plays host to preliminary events for the ARCA Midwest Tour Super Late Models.
2019 LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway Track Champion Nick Panitzke and multi-time Elko Speedway and 2019 NASCAR Weekly National Champion Jacob Goede were the class of the field in last year’s Big 8 feature event, with Goede edging ahead for the win following a spirited contest which brought the Oktoberfest crowd to their feet. The Fest Big 8 line-up procedure will find all qualified cars split into two or three qualifying features at the start of the night, with all drivers having to race their way into the A Main through those qualifying features or having to take the tough road through the C and B feature events. An abbreviated version of qualifying for the annual Chili Bowl in Tulsa, this format has been popular with fans and drivers over the last two Oktoberfests.
Having been a part of the Oktoberfest landscape since 1993, the Mid-American Stock Car Series is again part of the Saturday night at Fest. The longest running sanctioning body in Oktoberfest history, the traveling sportsmen series will crown their Champion following their 30 lap feature under the lights. Another popular division that can trace its roots back to the 1990’s at Oktoberfest is the Midwest Truck Series. Often providing some of the more memorable and closest racing at Fest, they will be joined by the Oktoberfest born 4 cylinder Midwest Dash Series, both racing on the 5/8 mile oval.
In addition to two qualifying laps in an attempt to make the 200 lap feature on Sunday, the ‘Stars and Cars’ of the ARCA Midwest Tour will run their 12 lap qualifying features which will transfer an additional four cars into Sunday’s main event. The fastest 16 qualifiers are automatically locked into Sunday’s starting line-up and will run 8 lap twin odd and even dashes on Saturday night.
