Bubba Pollard Ready for his First Oktoberfest Race Weekend

Bubba Pollard is one of today’s successful short track drivers who is leaving a legacy like those of Dick Trickle, Joe Shear, Tom Reffner, Larry Detjens and many more.

He has won big events all over the United States from the Winter Showdown twice at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, CA, All-American 400 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville (TN), Summer Showdown at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA, Red Eye 100 at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Money in the Bank at Berlin Raceway in Marne, MI and recently the Slinger Nationals at Slinger Super Speedway in Slinger, Wisconsin.

Over the last few years, the Senoia, Georgia driver has been working on a short track bucket list of tracks and events he has always wanted to compete at, and this weekend he will scratch off the 48th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend from that list.

“For sure, Oktoberfest has been on my bucket list,” Pollard exclaimed. “Just hearing about it when I have raced up in the Midwest and how everyone talks about it, I want to come and experience it myself, so I thought we would come up and do it. I like the format where we are racing three different events in in four days at one track.”

One thing that Pollard appreciates is how the rules for Oktoberfest and the ARCA Midwest Tour allow for someone like him to come up and compete without making many changes to his car.

“The rules are a little different, especially with running a 2-bbl carburetor,” Pollard said. “But not much different to where we can quickly turn around the car from the All-American 400 at Nashville last weekend and get ready for Oktoberfest this weekend.”

Pollard and his crew plan to leave Georgia early Wednesday morning and arrive in time for practice on Thursday, where he will compete in “The Futures” 25-lap event on Thursday night.

“It’s been a long time since I ran a 25-lap feature,” Pollard explained, “But it will give us some good seat time leading into the Dick Trickle 99 and Oktoberfest 200.”

The 2017 Slinger Nationals winner is also looking forward to running in the Dick Trickle 99 presented by JE Pistons on Friday night.

“We will be doing some studying on how to go into that race,” Pollard admitted. “It is totally different than what I have ever done, but it looks like a fun race. I am going to go in there hoping to win all three segments.”

Pollard will then end his weekend by competing in the ARCA Midwest Tour’s Oktoberfest 200 on Sunday afternoon.

“Some of the best racers are from the Midwest and I have always said that if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best, and I want to see how we stack up against them. We will have three opportunities to do that over the four days,” Pollard declared. “Every time I have come up to the Midwest, I have raced against some of the best and the racing has been respectable and competitive.

“Many have told me that I have to come up to Oktoberfest simply because the best will be competing there all weekend. The car counts they get are very eye opening. I want to come up and be a part of it and also take in their famous after-race parties that I keep hearing about, my team and I are ready to come up this weekend. Hope to meet many fans!”

It’s not too late to make your plans to be a part of the 48th Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend. Come and be a part of a great weekend, meet new friends, and witness short track history.
