Four La Crosse Speedway Championships to be Decided at Oktoberfest

The first two nights of the 52nd Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend will feature be big nights for four divisions that compete weekly at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin.

Over the two nights, the host of the annual Fall event will crown champions in the Kwik Trip Late Models, Lawnkeepers Sportsmen, 6 Shooters, and ANTS Pest Control Hornets.

The championship for the Kwik Trip Late Models will come down to four 20-lap features over the first two nights, with two feature events on Thursday and the final two on Friday night.

Defending champion Nick Murgic is hoping for his second title on Friday night. He comes into the final weekend with a 62-point lead over Steve Bachman and a 96-point lead over Jerimy Wagner.

Sam Niles will be coming into Oktoberfest with a 63-point lead over Justin Berg in the Lawnkeepers Sportsmen division. Niles has six wins with 11-top five’s so far this season. They will have a 20-lap feature on Thursday night at Fest.

The 6 Shooters division has a tight three-way battle coming into their 20-lap feature event on the opening night. Robert Stanfield comes with a 25-point lead over Al Bartels and 35-point lead over John Huebner. Stanfield will be looking for his fifth feature win of the season to wrap up the championship.

Cheyanne Stanfield is looking for her first title in the ANTS Pest Control Hornets division after coming up short last year. She will be coming into Fest Thursday with a 51-point lead over Andy Barney and a 53-point lead over Kristopher Berg.

Along with the four weekly divisions, the Super Late Models will also compete on the opening night with two 25-lap feature events. The Futures featuring the young, up and coming drivers and the “Knights of Oktoberfest” for competitors who are not eligible for the Futures race.

The evening will cap off with the famous Double-O race with competitors competing on both the ¼-mile and 5/8-mile track.

Qualifying will get underway at 2:45pm with racing at 6pm. After the races, head on over to the Expo Hall for the Champions Party featuring DJ Dan Deicher.
