Ty Majeski started his quest to claim his fifth ARCA Midwest Tour title by setting a new track record in qualifying then taking the Ultimate Challenge for Sunday’s Oktoberfest 200, part of the 52nd Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend at the La Crosse Speedway in West Salem, WI.
Majeski set a new track record in qualifying with a time of 18.476 seconds (106.192 mph) with Travis Sauter in second with a time of 18.581 seconds (105.592 mph) and Levon Van Der Geest in third with a time of 18.662 seconds (105.133 mph).
Majeski rolled a six in pre-race ceremonies to create a 15-car invert, but Majeski has elected to take the Ultimate Challenge where he will start at the rear of the field. The Ultimate Challenge was up to $15,000 at press time.
The ARCA Midwest Tour had their preliminary races on Saturday night with odd/even dashes for the top 16 locked into the field.
Luke Fenhaus won the odd dash with Griffin McGrath in second and Skylar Holzhausen in third.
Dalton Zehr held off Johnny Sauter to win the even heat. Dan Fredrickson was third.
Two 12-lap qualifying features determined positions 17-20, with the top two from each making the big show.
Former Oktoberfest 200 winner Andrew Morrissey won the first qualifying feature with Justin Mondeik holding off Dillon Hammond for the second transfer spot.
Carson Kvapil, son of 2003 NASCAR Truck Series champion Travis Kvapil, won the second qualifying feature with Bryan Syer-Keske in second. They are in the field for Sunday’s 200-lap feature event.
There will be a last chance race tomorrow to fill the rest of the field.
On Sunday, come out early to be a part of the on-track autograph session at 10:45am. The racing action will get underway at noon.
