Six Features Make For an Action Packed Friday Night at Oktoberfest Race Weekend

West Salem, WI- The second night of racing during the 51st annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend is perhaps the most compelling at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway.  Three divisions will contest a total of six feature events plus preliminary races on Friday night October 9 with the 2020 LaCrosse Fairgounds Speedway Track Championship being determined as well.

Friday Night features one of the most unique racing formats in Super Late Model Short Track Racing as drivers compete in three 33 lap features to determine the winner of The Original Dick Trickle 99.  With the first segment lined up straight up by time, the second inverted based on the finish of segment one and the third inverted based on overall points, all three features offer different twists and turns throughout.  Last year’s Dick Trickle 99 came right down to the wire with Nick Murgic and Dan Fredrickson tied for the point lead at the conclusion of 99 laps.  Murgic was awarded the overall victory based on his higher finish in the final segment, adding his name alongside Sauter, Majeski, Darnell, Holzhausen(s), Weinkauf, Haseleu, Knoblock and Fredrickson on the list of past winners.

Following two feature events on Thursday night, the final pair of 20 lap Kwik Trip Late Model features will be contested Friday night as the weekly warriors of LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway battle over two nights and four features to determine their Champion.  Currently Nick Murgic leads over seven-time NASCAR Late Model Champion and recent feature winners Billy Mohn, Steve Bachman, Brent Kirchner and Mike Carlson.  Murgic is seeking his first career Track Championship.

Also on Friday night’s card is the Area Sportsmen division.  Continuously the most popular support division at paved oval facilities throughout the Midwest, the Area Sportsmen have been a mainstay at Fest.  Drivers from Wisconsin and surrounding states, representing their weekly home tracks race in their biggest race of the season, on the biggest track they encounter all season.  The state and track rivalries continue to play out each year during Oktoberfest in the Area Sportsmen.

Following the final checkered flag, join the Legendary After-Race Party in the Exhibition Hall with Live Music by 35 South on the Jacoby Waterproofing Stage plus Beverages and Fun.
